Biography

We have celebrated the teaching, learning and performing of music since we began in 1993 with 33 students. Today Pacific Crest has one of country's most respected music arts education programs.

Pacific Crest is a nonprofit organization, headquartered in Diamond Bar, CA, serving over 450 culturally, ethnically, and socio-economically diverse students from throughout Southern California. Our mission is to provide artistic performance opportunities for young people that help them develop into well-rounded and responsible citizens. We offer several programs in support of this mission including: a workshop series focusing on leadership and performance skills, that serves 325 students; and a 130-member drum and bugle corps that travels 10,000 miles each summer and performs before annual audiences of 75,000. In addition, we touch the lives of another 1,000 young performers by hosting four Drum Corps International Summer Music Games contests each summer in Southern California.

The corps' color guard, and percussion and brass performers, using a variety of musical instruments and equipment, feature a high-energy mix of jazz, classical, pop, Broadway show music, and dance. Members perform in 20 shows a year comprising competitions, concerts, and parades throughout United States. Performances have also included television appearances, and appearances at notable venues, including the Orange County Performing Arts Center, a world-class entertainment venue in Costa Mesa, CA.

Pacific Crest's highly skilled faculty share a love for music and dance, as well as the desire to help talented and motivated students strive for personal excellence. Many are credentialed music teachers and/or professional musicians. They receive only an honorarium to cover expenses and were once student performers who are now giving back to the community that gave so much to them.

As a member of Drum Corps International (DCI), a nonprofit organization serving drum and bugle corps, marching bands and related activities around the world, Pacific Crest competes in Division I, the highest competitive division in DCI. They represent the City of Diamond Bar and the Southern California Region as one of 24 teams in the Marching Music's Major Leagues
