  Big Beat in Seattle
On Sunday November 1st I was lucky enough to attend the Big beat event in Seattle Washington hosted by Donn Bennett of Donn Bennett's Drum Shop. The event was held at the Jaunita Field House in Kirkland, WA. We had 267 drummers playing together all at once. What a an incredible feeling. On the main stage was Sabian Artist Ray Luzier, current drummer for Korn and Sabian Artist Jeff Kathan of Paul Rodgers Band and Spike and the Impalers. These guys put on one incredible show for of us who attended! Ray's performance was Blazing! Jeff laid down a huge fat groove! Also putting on a great performance were the Sabian Artists The Blue Thunder, who are the official band for the Seattle Seahawks football team. This event was founded seven years ago by Chris Kimball and partner Donn Bennett. Most of the proceeds will be donated to under funded school music programs. This was one of twelve Big Beats that were all going on at the same time all around the country. All locations were attempting to break the Guiness Book Of Records for most drummers performing a 2 minute piece together on drum sets all in one room at one time. Seattle had the record of 533, until is was recently broken in England by a number of 588 drummers.
