Laurent Mariusse made his first steps in music by striking notes on his drum. It was the starting point of a course which led him to the National Superior Conservatory of Lyon, where he obtained a First Prize with a speciality in contemporary music. From then on, a field of creation and musical exploration opened up, leading him to new technologies while devoting a large amount of his output to improvisation.

Laurent Mariusse made his first steps in music by striking notes on his drum. It was the starting point of a course which led him to the National Superior Conservatory of Lyon, where he obtained a First Prize with a speciality in contemporary music. From then on, a field of creation and musical exploration opened up, leading him to new technologies while devoting a large amount of his output to improvisation.

His collaboration with contemporary composers and the creation of their works motivates his musical research and his work as a percussionist, always on the lookout for new emerging forms. He is the dedicatee of the works of: Marie Hélène Bernard, Sébastien Béranger, Geroges Bloch, Jean Philippe Calvin, Alan Cassar, Daniel D’Adamo, Laurent Durupt, José Evangelista, Nuria, Gimenez-Comas, Marie Hélène Fournier, Benjamin De La Fuente, Pierre Jodlowski, Sophie Lacaze, Sarah Lewis, Grégoire Lorieux, Saiko Nakamura, Luis Naon, François Nicolas, André Serre-Milan, Yves Prin, Emmanuel Séjourné, Tôn Thât Tiet, Daniele Venturi.

He has performed as soloist in various festivals in France: Festival Les Musiques, Festival ManiFeste; Festival Messiaen à la Meije; Festival Turbulences Sonores in Montpellier; Festivoce in Pigna, Les Flâneries de Reims; Folle Journée de Nantes; Perkumania-Paris; Why Note in Dijon; Festival des Arcs; One month festival – Korea/France; Festival Musiques Démesurées in Clermont Ferrand; Biennale Musiques en Scène in Lyon. Abroad, he has performed in Buenos Aires, New York, Indianapolis (PASIC 2013 Technology day), Berlin, Valencia, London, Bratislava, and Court (Switzerland) and has given master classes at the University of Quilmes Argentina, New York University, Royal College London, CRR Lyon, CRR Paris, Riba-Roja Percussion Days, Permanent Percussion Academies Valencia

He has been the artistic director of Company La Concorde Des Arts since 2014, instigating projects that combine many artistic forms. In 2018 he composed Supernovae melodrama after a text by Fabrice Melquiot, for Soprano, String Quintet, actor, marimba/vibraphone.

Whether as performer or composer, Laurent Mariusse situates his work as a musician at the meeting point of written and improvised music. He released in 2022, under the label Art Zoyd, “In memoraim Gérard, miroir du jour où… bruleront les cités” for percussion, marimba, soprano vibraphone and bass. He creates with Sébastien Béranger, “Ellipsis” for solo percussion, video and live electronics. In 2022 and 2023, he celebrates the composer Iannis Xenakis by composing XMX, a creation for solo percussion, in response to Rebonds. He is with Cédric Dupuy, Timothée Gaborit and Floent Geninatti, at the head of Lino Productions, a publishing and video company around percussion.

He receives support from Bergerault, Grover, MalletKat, Tama, Sabian and Innovative Percussion.

Since March 2023, he is a professor at the CNRR Pierre Barbizet in Marseille.
