Hello everyone,
We arrived at the Memphis Drum Shop on Friday morning where it was raining quite hard, but nothing could stop this crew. We set up our master lather Allie Cougle outside under a tent to keep him nice and dry. This store is one of the nicest drum shops anywhere in the world! I must admit, it was hard to concentrate on setting up as there was so much great gear surrounding me. Owner Jim Pettit and his wife Nancy were there to greet us all. After setting up all the amazing cymbals we brought in, Jim brought in the best BBQ we’ve ever eaten! The weather didn’t stop these folks from coming down to the store to check out all the amazing prototypes we brought down from Canada. One gentleman drove all the way from Kansas City, MO for the event! Another customer drove all the way from Columbus, Ohio to pick up his “One of One Hundred” Artisan ride which happened to be cymbal number two of the collection! We all got to watch him open the beautiful wooden crate and pull out his great sounding 21” Artisan ride. He was grinning from ear to ear. Back outside Allie was making a set of high hats for owner Jim Pettit which Jim affectionately called the “Memphis Hats” as they had the same lathing on them as our AAX Memphis ride, in which Jim was involved in the development of. Allie made up a set of fourteens of these Memphis hats that sounded so good that another customer immediately had Allie make him a pair.
There were a lot of great sounding cymbals made their way to new homes which made for a lot of happy customers throughout the day. Many of them got autographs and pictures taken with our master cymbal expert Mark Love.
What a great day at the Memphis Drum Shop, where even heavy rains could not stop their customers from attending the Vault Tour. All of us from the Vault Tour crew would like to thank Jim and Nancy Pettit and their great staff for all their wonderful hospitality.
