After a day-long drive from Richmond to Columbus on Wednesday, we were ready to rock at Columbus Percussion on Thursday afternoon!
A lot of people took advantage of the rare opportunity to have craftsman Allie Cougle create a cymbal just for them. Brooke from Wilmington, OH (check out his band here: streetwiseband.com) had a custom cymbal made on site, along with Alan Slocum
who took home a 16" HH cymbal.
Kevin brought in a cymbal from home to be hand-hammered to suit his current sound - he walked away happy with his re-worked 16" AAX Metal Crash.
Coby Utterback's new cymbal is all thanks to a team effort - it was lathed by Allie Cougle and hand hammered by both Coby and Columbus Percussion employee Tomash - it sounds great!
We were joined by Bob Breithaupt in the evening, a SABIAN-endorsed clinician and jazz player who performs with the Columbus Jazz Orchestra - thanks for stopping in!
The award for most dedicated customer of the tour goes to Brendan Riley! He was at the store before we arrived, and stayed until the very end. From 1pm-8pm, Brendan tested cymbals, picked out perfect prototypes for his sound, and waited for the $100 coupon winner to be drawn. His patience paid off - at 8pm his name was randomly pulled from all of the ballots that had been filled out throughout the day. Congrats Brendan!!
