Biography

BORN IN:
Norwalk, CT

LIVES IN:
Brooklyn, NY

DRUMMING SINCE:
1970, professionally since 1973.

CURRENT BAND/PROJECT:
Recording and performing in NYC

BIGGEST INFLUENCES:
Max Roach, Elvin Jones, Tony Williams, Philly Joe Jones, Papa Jo Jones, Mel Lewis, Sonny Payne, Joe Chambers and Buddy Rich.

FAVORITE ALBUM PLAYED ON:
"The Rat Pack: A&E Soundtrack". To be featured soloing under the story of Sinatra, Sammy and JFK was pretty cool.

FAVORITE ALBUM DIDN'T PLAY ON:
"Live at Birdland", John Coltrane. Elvin Jones just about burns the place down, especially on "Afro Blue".

CAREER HIGHLIGHT:
Too many to pick one, but my ongoing series of Master Classes at The Collective in NYC ranks very high. It's a great joy to be a part of helping others express themselves.

FAVORITE SABIAN CYMBAL:
My 24" Artisan Ride is a beautiful, complex instrument that I have looked for for years and finally found.
