Biography
Born in Israel in 1983, drummer and composer Aviv Cohen started playing music at the age of fourteen. In 1999, he enrolled in the Jerusalem School of Arts. After graduating in 2001, he continued to grow at the prestigious School of Arts of Rimon, studying in the jazz department.
Cohen moved from Jerusalem to New York City in 2005 and quickly established himself as a much-in-demand artist through his formidable technique, deep groove and strong sense of individuality.
Cohen's unique approach to his instrument - strongly rooted in jazz, electronica and groove - has made him a favorite among fans and musicians alike. The decidedly international, multi-ethnic dimension to his music has captured the attention of many recognized artists. He has recorded and performed with Dana Leong, Yoni Rechter, Avishai Cohen, Jason Lindner, Christian Howes, Husnu Senlendirici, , Sam Barsh, Cris Parello, Eli Degibri, Omer Avital and Marina Maximilian Blumin.
