Oporto and Lisbon Treated to Donati in Action

With over 200 eager fans - drummers, music store staff, and students packed into the local playhouse in Oporto, Virgil Donati hit the stage and launched into music from his Planet X CD Quantum, delivering a stunning drum solo before stepping out front to explain his technique. As expected, the performance was stunning and Virgil received a standing ovation.

The next show was at the Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa (Lisbon High School of Music), so we have travelled with Virgil by car. About 120 people crowded into that venue, and like the day before, Virgil stunned the audience with the sheer technique and power of his playing. Starting with solid rock grooves he takes his audiences into a land of the unknown... stretching the time, adding strokes, subtracting time until your mind is lost in a flurry of kick and snare patterns punched up with cymbal accents and swirling crescendos. And then he brings it all back down to earth... and another standing ovation.

Both clinics saw attendees gifted with packs containing catalogs, stickers, a lanyard, a Virgil bio, as well as notation that the drummers in the audience could go home and study.
