Guitar Center’ Drum-Off, the world’s premier drum competition, to Feature an Evening Packed with Performances by the Drumming Elite and the Top Five Undiscovered Drummers in the Country

Westlake Village, CA - - Continuing its ongoing support of and commitment to aspiring artists, Guitar Center (www.guitarcenter.com), the world's largest retailer of musical instruments and equipment, today announced that tickets are now on sale for the 23rd annual Guitar Center Drum-Off Finals, (http://gc.guitarcenter.com/drum-off-2011/) the culmination of the nationwide search for the next great undiscovered drummer. The five grand finalists will share the stage on January 14th at Club Nokia at LA Live in downtown Los Angeles with a slew of world-renowned drummers and perform in front of a live audience as well as panel of celebrity judges for a chance to be named Drum-Off champion.

Hosted by Jane’s Addiction drummer Stephen Perkins, Drum-Off will feature exclusive projects from world-class drummers including Terry Bozzio (Frank Zappa, Missing Persons), Josh Freese (Nine Inch Nails, Devo, A Perfect Circle, Weezer), Dennis Chambers (Santana, Parliament/Funkadelic), Aaron Spears (Alicia Keys, Usher), Mike Portnoy (Adrenaline Mob) and Ilan Rubin (Angels & Airwaves, Nine Inch Nails).

The Drum-Off champion will win the grand prize package, valued at nearly $50,000, which includes: $25,000 Cash, a feature in Modern Drummer Magazine, 2012 NAMM VIP Experience, recording time at the Converse Rubber Track Studios and thousands of dollars in gear and endorsement deals from the drum world’s top manufacturers.

Guitar Center’s Drum-Off has jump-started the careers of a number of professional drummers over its twenty-three year history, including those of Cora Coleman-Dunham (Prince, Beyoncé), Tony Royster Jr (Jay-Z), Thomas Pridgen (The Mars Volta) and Eric Moore (Suicidal Tendencies).
