Early in the day the Novi High School Band from Indianapolis, Indiana with Director Matt Ownby performed for a tremendous cheering section of fans taking a score of  84.40 that pushed them to the upper middle region of a long line in the Scholastic Open class.

Later in the day we caught up with Franklin  Central' High School's Derek Felix also of Indianapolis prior to the group's stunning performance in the Scholastic Open performing their program "Balance", that features a middle-section called "Death of Balance" (by the Prog/Metal Band Symphony X).  Also running the Group is Dan Fyffe and Jeff Huffman?they scored 87.30

During the course of Day-1 several visitors came to the Sabian display to say hello and Jim Bailey of the Independent World group "I-2" (Indianapolis Independent) talked to Sabian about cymbals, service and how and why his Percussion group uses Sabian products.

During the course of the day we caught several more video/booth visits from luminaries such as Endorsers Steve Ulicny (WGI Judge), Matt Savage (Drum Corps Specialist/Chapel Hill, North Carolina) & Jonathan Jadrani (University of Miami/Marching Band) bringing a video connection with each speaking to their relationship with Sabian, it's personnel and it's products so check out the links to each of the related videos.
