Carlton Music Center in Lakeland Florida hosted a Dom Famularo clinic recently.  An enthusiastic crowd of more than 130 students and adults came out to be inspired and motivated by SABIAN's master educator.  Dom captivated the packed house with poignant references to his travels, teachings, and life experiences.  Although most of those who attended came to see a "drum clinic", I think all would have been content just to listen to Dom speak.  But of course they were treated to Dom's explosive and dynamic approach to the drum set, both in solo form and playing along to tracks. Local educator Darryl Johnson opened the show with an interesting historical presentation, which included rudimental drum solos on a military rope drum.  Later in the evening an old bass player friend came up on stage and improvised with Dom.  In the middle of the improvisation Dom invited Darryl back up and all three got into the mix.  The crowd loved it and this was a fantastic conclusion to an already amazing performance.

Encore Music Tarpon Springs, FL

Encore Music hosted an evening with Dom Famularo at a local night club.  Dom began the event by discussing the art form of drumming, defining key aspects of art including, expression, language, and voice.  Dom played along to an original track that was dedicated to the memory of legendary Toto drummer Jeff Porcaro.  Dom later wowed the crowd with an amazing improvised solo featuring his blistering foot work and creative cymbal playing techniques.  As is always the case, everyone left the event with Dom's positive and motivating message, ready to concur all they wish too.  Dom proved once again why he truly is the world's drumming ambassador.

Seminole Music Seminole, FL

Florida's first SABIAN aXcess Dealer hosted a clinic with master educator Dom Famularo.  We arrived late the evening prior to the event and were invited to a local club to hear Seminole Music's manager, John Spinelli, perform with a local band.  Within minutes of our arrival, Dom was invited on stage and tour the house down.  As you can imagine, he was offered a number of gigs on the spot, and if not for his insane travel schedule, he may very well have accepted them!  The next day we were off to Seminole Music.  John and his crew always do an amazing job with there events and this was no exception.  Approximately 100 local musicians came out to see Dom do his thing and no one was disappointed.  After the event Dom signed autographs for all who asked and then we all enjoyed a great meal at our friend and co-worker Matt's house (thanks again Matt, Laura, and Zack!)  The next day Dom drove to Fort Meyers to spend a little time with one of his early influences, the one and only Jim Chapin.  Words can't describe the feelings generated by listening to these two drumming legends catch up on old times.  This is what the drumming community is all about.

Scott's Drum Center Lafayette, LA

Scott's Drum Center in Lafayette Louisiana celebrated their 10^th anniversary this weekend by hosting a day of music at the drum shop.  Students of all ages from the Acadia School of the Arts performed for parents, friends, and music lovers.  The weather could not have cooperated any better and everyone enjoyed the music and the sunshine.  Early in the day, Dom went to a local school to speak and perform.  In the afternoon Dom performed again, on stage in front of Scott's Drum Shop.  His message was head loud and clear and Dom's personality and proficiency once again captured the hearts and minds of young and old alike.  With the help of SABIAN Cymbals and Mapex Drums, Scott's raffled off a SABIAN AAX Performance Set and a Mapex Drum set.  Everyone enjoyed the day and we can't congratulate Scott, Peggy, Brad and all at Scott's Drum Center enough on 10 great years.  Here's to the next 10 my friend!
