Congratulations to 14 year old Ryan Slagle of California who won a lesson with Bob Bryar of My Chemical Romance! Ryan wrote and illustrated an ending to a comic piece featuring Bob, Chad Smith and Jimmy Sullivan when SABIAN called for entries. Ryan along with his Dad Mike flew to Chicago recently and met up with Bob at The Drum Pad in Palatine, IL near Chicago. Victor Salazar and the folks at The Drum Pad rolled out the red carpet for Ryan and Bob by setting them up in a private lesson room where they got to play together.
Ryan is an accomplished
pipe band drummer and with Bob's experience in Drum Corps they had a rudimental
hoe down! Ryan enjoyed hearing about the exploits Bob shared about life on the
road with My Chem and how he ended up in that position. They also enjoyed poking
fun at our Artist Relations Manager Chris Stankee for setting a new record
playing Halo 3 with Bob- getting killed faster and more times than anyone ever
has before. He says, "yeah, but I would have smoked him at Donkey Kong!"
Ryan left with a huge
smile on his face and an experience he'll never forget. SABIAN sends a huge
thank you to Bob and The Drum Pad for making it happen for
him.
