Selecting a Series

There are eight SABIAN cymbal series and two collections. Each series - HHX, AAX, APX, Xs20, HH, AA, B8 Pro, and B8 - has a specific look and contains a wide range of models. The collections - Vault and Paragon - are different. Vault contains a mix of different looking and sounding cymbals... it's more about being different than about being the same. Paragon, created with Rush drummer Neil Peart, offers a very specific look and sound for - mainly - rock players.

To guide you to your sound, we have grouped these various selections into four categories.

Modern

Sounds at their most innovative.

Vintage

Sounds at their most traditional.  The original SABIAN cymbals epitomize traditional craftsmanship and represent those classic sounds of the 50s, 60s, and 70s.

Creative

Daring and unique sound design

• Vault is a varied selection of cymbals and sounds designed for today's players and the music they play

These categories will help you quickly identify the type of sound most suitable for your needs. We suggest that while some players build their set-up with only one series, it is worth trying different models from different series to create a bright/dark combination, or a vintage/modern set-up. Or go all vintage or all modern, all bright or all dark. You may think choosing cymbals is difficult, but with so many series, sizes and sounds (as well as player set-up information on this site), creating your own set-up is easier with SABIAN.
