Biography

Born and raised in Kingston, Jamaica. At the young age of eleven, he found his calling when he joined the St. Peter Claver Drum Corp and set his sites on becoming a professional drummer, a goal he recognized when he joined group like “Kofi Kali and the Graduates” and later joined “Soul Syndicate” which eventually became the top recording and live band in Jamaica.

Recognized as one of the top reggae recording and live drummers in the world, Santa Davis has gained notoriety for his work with artist like Jimmy Cliff, Black Uhuru, Burning Spear, Bob Marley and The Wailers, Peter Tosh, Ini Kamoze, Big Mountain and too many more too mention.

As a live show and studio drummer, his work has influenced countless young reggae drummers around the world and helped to shape what is still today the standard in Reggae Music. His recording credits include reggae classic like “Africa Unite”, “Comin' In From The Cold”, and “Chant Down Babylon” on the internationally acclaimed albums Survival and Uprising by Bob Marley. Other credits include songs on the album “Liberation” by Bunny Wailer, “Marcus Garvey” and “Tradition” by Burning Spear, “Love is Overdue” and “All I Have is Love” by Gregory Isaacs, “Money in My Pocket” and “West Bound Train” by Dennis Brown, the classic Stalag 17 (a reggae standard used by many Jamaican DJ/Rappers) along with Grammy nominated albums like “All Over The World” by the Wailing Souls on Sony Music and Grammy winning albums like Peter Tosh’s “No Nuclear War” for EMI.

Santa Davis may be best recognized as the official drummer for artist like Peter Tosh, the group Big Mountain and currently Ziggy Marley, However, Santa's experience as a musician is not limited to only reggae music. He has worked with major international artists like Isaac Hayes, Carlos Santana, Chaka Khan, Eddie Griffin, and Willie Nelson to name a few.

Santa Davis is undeniably a legend and key player in Reggae Music's rich history and still to this day remains one of the hottest and most sought after drummers in the business, but if you ask him he'll tell you he's "just a link in the chain".
