Biography
His hip latin drumming is fused with hot jazz and a funky feel and when he plays the music burns! One of New York’s leading session drummers, Robby Ameen gained international prominence with such major artists as Paul Simon, Dave Valentin, and Ruben Blades. With Seis del Solar he garnered critical acclaim, while projects with musical visionary Kip Hanrahan unite him with the likes of Jack Bruce and some of the best latin musicians in the world. His Funkifying the Clave book/video is a global best seller, and his band Deep Rumba - which teams him with Hanrahan and fellow drummer Horacio ’El Negro’ Hernandez - makes a powerful statement for hip musical eclecticism.
