Rexsell "Rex" Hardy began his venture playing drums in the church at a very young age, and like most kids, he grew up listening as well as imitating different people.
Rex began playing with his father's group, The Hardy Brothers, at the tender age of 3, it was this point in his life his parents, Rexsell Sr. and LaVel Hardy, noticed this Gift from God. From that point he stayed in the church studying other drummers. Going into high school Rex began to read music, becoming more in tuned with the drumming first hand; he became part of the Simeon School Marching and Jazz Band.
As Rex traveled the states, his mindset for drumming expanded to a level of unbelief. As he met different drummers on the scene, he knew he had to excel to become one of the best! This was the beginning of what started Rex's career.
The year of 2004 was a big one for Rex. While ending The Ladies Nite Out Tour featuring Avant, Jagged Edge, Ginuwine, and Joe, he received an invitation to take on the huge drum chair of the infamous, Mary J. Blige 2004 Love and Life Tour. He toured with Mary J. Blige for about six months and followed with a one year tour playing with the Legendary Chaka Khan which took his way of drumming to another level. Since then Rex has toured constantly building his name in the industry as one of the best, following his idols ofcourse. Just finishing the tour in summer of 2009 being the Music Director/Drummer for Keri Hilson and The Dream he continues to keep going...
Now in the process of getting ready for Mary J. Blige's 2009/2010 WORLD TOUR things are looking great for Rexsell Hardy Jr..
