Biography

A Grammy-winning musician Morgan Agren - born in Umeå, Sweden, 1967 - was as an outstanding talent at a young age, performing publicly at age seven and joining 10-year old blind keyboardist Mats Öberg in 1981. In 1988, while in their late teens, Morgan and Mats played a guest spot with Frank Zappa in Stockholm. Impressed by the youngsters, Zappa invited the duo to participate in a couple projects in the US. Indeed, Morgan was poised to become a permanent member of Zappa's band when the leader's death snuffed out all rays of hope. And while Zappa’s influence remains, Morgan and Mats have long since found their own voices. By the 1990’s the duo began releasing CDs on Morgan’s Ultimate Audio Entertainment label, eventually forming the Mats/Morgan Band, which – through its recordings and burning live performances with a band comprised of stellar Swedish players - has established a fan following that stretches across Europe, Asia and North America. Mats Morgan Band music is a unique form of progressive jazz/rock, and when the players hit the stage they ignite with a passion for playing that confirms that this unit is an absolute monster awaiting the world’s discovery! A major figure in his homeland, Morgan has also played with Fleshquartet/Fläskkvartetten, Steve Vai, Fredrik Thordendal (of Meshuggah) Spoonman, Terry Bozzio, Mike Keneally, Denny Walley, Kaipa, Bolon Bata, Dweezil Zappa, toured with Glenn Hughes, and was a guest player with Black Sabbath’s Tony Iommi.
