Biography

Joe Abbatantuono began playing drums in school in the fourth grade and studied privately with countless drummers and percussionists, including John Riley, Tony Moreno, Adam Nussbaum, Ed Shaughnessy, Jim Petercsak, Rick Barbour, Joe Morello, and others. With a B.M. in Music Education (Crane School of Music) and an M.A. in Jazz Performance (New York University), Joe has paved his musical path with musicians of all styles of music for years.

He has performed on national and international TV stages, including The Montreal Jazz Festival, MTV's Spring Break, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Apprentice, Nightline, famed NYC rock and jazz clubs, theaters such as Carnegie Hall and Merkin Hall, and countless dive bars. His music career has taken him all over the United States, as well as to Turkey, Colombia, Montreal, Mexico, Toronto, and others. He is well versed in jazz, rock, pop, funk, big band, avante garde, heavy metal, and latin styles.

Performances/Collaborations include: The Identity Crisis, The Bjorkestra, Pacha Massive, The Sean Nowell Quintet, Tommy and CJ Ramone, Travis Sullivan, Donny McCaslin, The Joe Abba Jazz Project, Monatomic, Jed Davis, Matt Clohesy, Collider, Jerry Jemmott, Jeff Berlin, Edmar Castaneda, Sheldon Low, Francois Moutin, Rez Abassi, Alan Ferber, Benny Reitveld, Kurt Rosenwinkel and Jessica Simpson. Joe Abba is a professional musician, clinician, as well as a music educator of all ages, from grade school through adults.
