Biography

Rammstein is not a band to be messed with! The German concept rockers blew onto the international scene in the 90s, and every few years they come on strong with a new album and tour that deliver their hard hitting, heavy crunching brand of dark humored hard rock to the charts and stages around the world. Drummer Christoph Schneider has propelled the band right from the start. Growing up in East Germany, Christoph had little opportunity to experience first-hand the music scenes that came and went in the West. But when he heard punk, hard rock and heavy metal he knew he’d found his music. Hammering out cover tunes in late night, smokey clubs led to a succession of bands before Rammstein fell into place. 'We were like two bands coming together,' said Christoph. With inspiration including Deep Purple's Ian Paice and Vinnie Paul's pneumatic playing with Pantera, Christoph expanded his set-up to a double-bass format and really got into high-powered playing.

Each Rammstein album is a reminder that Christoph and the band are constantly striving for something new. The latest CD Liebe ist fur alle da (Love is There for Everyone) and supporting video are a striking (some might say shocking) return to form. "Pushing the limits is what Rammstein is all about... it's why our band exists," confirms Christoph.

While Rammstein takes its breaks between albums and tours, Christoph continues to play with various bands, to keep his chops up and live the life he enjoys so much. "I'm a drummer when I'm playing drums. When I'm not playing drums I'm just some other guy. I want to be a drummer... to stay a drummer, so I play all I can."
