Biography

With a growing reputation built on the strength of his high energy, diverse playing, Chris Pennie is one of today’s most vital drummers. With the Dillinger Escape Plan he blurred the lines of heavy music and turned many heads in the music world. Joining up with rock goliaths Coheed and Cambria in 2007 he once again is looking to further his mark. Listening to bands as diverse as The Police, Kool and the Gang and Metallica while he was growing up, Chris absorbed many different styles of music. Getting his first drum kit at the age of twelve, during his high school years he went on to play with local bands that ranged from pop to metal to electronica. After attending the famed Berklee College of Music in Boston as a synthesis major in 1995-96, he and co-founder Ben Weinman formed Dillinger in early 1997. Upon leaving the band in 2007 he is enjoying a consistent touring schedule with Coheed, as well as pursuing other musical projects, session work and clinics.
