Biography
Brian Barnett is a drummer that has defined the true meaning of what any drummer should represent when he is seated behind the drum set which is to “serve the music”. This philosophy has enabled Brian to secure his position in several high profile touring acts and numerous sessions in his hometown of Nashville, TN.
Brian first garnered attention when he began touring with the legendary Mel McDaniel in 1988. Quickly word spread throughout the industry and soon Brian was playing and touring with Jo’el Sonnier , Delbert McClinton , Barbara Mandrell , Don Williams , Pam Tillis and Mindy McCready.
Brian was at the center of the “New Country Sound” which was emerging from Nashville and soon found himself playing with Gretchen Wilson and the highly successful duo of Big & Rich. This association enabled him to be a part of their breakthrough album entitled “Horse of A Different Color” which went onto sell in excess of 2 million units and be certified double platinum by the recording industry.
While on a break from Big & Rich he auditioned and won the coveted role to tour with the legendary Hank Williams Jr. This association continues to this date and he is thrilled to be supplying the backbeat to Country Westerns “Entertainer of the Year”. A prestigious award that Hank has earned a record five times during his career.
Brian continues to further his career by co –owning a music publishing company and playing in sessions whenever he is in town.
Brian continues to live by this philosophy. “It just feels good to be a part of something that is bigger than me. Every day that I have the opportunity to put my mark on music is a good day for me. All the trials and tribulations that I have experienced on my path with one day help pave a better road for the future generations which include my son. It is not an easy ride or decision to do what we do for a living... but I can’t imagine any other way to have lived my life”.
